Jennifer Maestre
Originally inspired by the form and function of the sea urchin, Jennifer Maestre's sculptures are made entirely from pencils. She says that paradox and surprise are integral to her choice of material. There is a true fragility to the sometimes brutal aspect of the sculptures, vulnerability that is bellied by the fearsome texture.

I recently came across Free Rice, a very creative site that both tests your vocabulary and helps to aid world hunger. For each question answered correctly the website donates 20 grains of rice to people living in poverty. Free Rice is a sister site of the world poverty site, Poverty.com. It's all made possible by the sponsors who advertise on the site. If you like the idea please help to spread the word

Tie Love
I am in love with this collection of ties from Sovereign Beck, founded by Ryan Sovereign and William Beck, both graduates of The Rhode Island School of Design. Drawing upon both the traditional and the classically abstract ideals of tie design, the Sovereign Beck line of neckwear was created. With the concept of giving a new expression to conservative menswear, Ryan and Will have fashioned a line of ties that can be both understated and provocative, classic and cutting edge. Every design has been carefully realized by the artists to be not only timeless, but also a statement of individuality.

Rehabilitated Dishware by Sarah Cihat
"An exercise in sustainability that reincarnates existing products. Used or unwanted ceramics are redesigned and resurfaced then presented as new collections. Interesting designs and modern colors enliven the dish, extending its lifecycle past the thrift store or overstock pile. Rehabilitated Dishware is a subtle statement of the importance of recycling and the renewed value of unwanted things"
